What this practice provides for OCD
I provide psychiatric medication management for adults with OCD. That means evaluating whether medication has a role for you, choosing it carefully, and adjusting it over time with enough appointment length to actually discuss how it is going.
It is worth being direct about the boundary: I do not provide ERP psychotherapy. Exposure and Response Prevention is a specific form of therapy delivered by a therapist trained to do it, and that is not the role I fill. I work with your ERP therapist, not in place of one.
Why ERP matters so much here
The combination of medication and ERP therapy is the gold standard for OCD treatment. That is the honest framing, and it shapes how I approach the medication side.
Medication can lower the volume. For a lot of people it makes the exposure work possible when it previously felt unthinkable. What it does not do is teach your nervous system that the feared thing can be tolerated without the ritual. That learning happens in ERP. If we treat medication as the whole plan, we usually end up chasing dose changes instead of progress.
If you do not have an ERP therapist
Tell us when you reach out. I have a referral I trust and I am glad to point you toward it. You do not need to arrive with therapy already in place — plenty of people start on the medication side while the therapy piece gets arranged. It just should not stay that way indefinitely.
What the appointments look like
The initial evaluation is 60 minutes. We cover the shape your OCD actually takes, how much of your day it takes up, what you have already tried, and where medication has or has not helped. Follow-ups are 25 minutes, with room to talk about what is shifting and what is not.
If you are already in ERP, I want to know what you are working on there, so the medication decisions are made with that in view rather than in a separate lane.
A realistic view of what medication does
Some people get meaningful relief. Some get partial relief that makes the rest of the work possible. Some need more than one adjustment before anything useful happens. I am not going to promise you a particular outcome, and I would be careful with anyone who does.
What I can commit to is that decisions will be made for reasons I can explain and you can question.
In person in Spokane, or telehealth across Washington
In-person appointments are at 9631 N Nevada St, Suite 209 in Spokane. Telehealth is available to adults anywhere in Washington, which matters for OCD in particular — clinicians who work with it are not evenly distributed around the state.
Insurance
Think Beyond Psych is in-network with most major Washington plans, including Premera Blue Cross, Regence BlueShield, Asuris Northwest Health, First Choice Health, First Health Network, Kaiser, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and URM. Jesse verifies your specific benefits before the first appointment so you know what to expect rather than finding out afterward. This list is not complete, so if you don’t see your plan, ask anyway and Jesse will check.
We are not able to see patients covered by Medicaid, Apple Health, or other state-funded programs — including as self-pay. This is a federal patient protection rule, not a preference. If that is your coverage, Jesse will gladly help point you toward providers who accept it.
Scope
This practice treats adults. I do not prescribe benzodiazepines, and I do not treat active substance use, active psychosis, personality disorders, or active crises. If you are unsure whether this is the right fit, call Jesse and ask before scheduling.
